Curved Displays.. Why we should care..... later!

With CES soon approaching, the craze and move for manufactures to migrate and incorporate curved displays is going to be a big thing this year. As i research this topic, you already know about the LG Flex and the Samsung Curve phones which have the curved display featured into the phone. What are the benefits of this... probably little to none except a better feel in your pocket. With all my phones from now on placed securely into an Otterbox holster, i could really care less about this feature everyone is rushing to manufacture.

However with anything in design, without the first the never is a revision or reinvention.

A lot of people, including myself blog about what they want the next generation phones, and now watches, to have a curved display and this is probably a feature that is in everyone minds but we are just not there.

The Samsung Galaxy watch is cool.. but if it had a curved display that wrapped round your wrist?!?!?! Now that is what we want.... The G Flex is neat, but folding my phone like a wallet and doubling the size into a tablet... Game Over! These are the thing I would love to see into these phones and I know Google will get there before Apple will so I'm optimistic.

We are also expecting the curved TVs to be debuted at the CES show in Las Vegas in January. Having a curved TV is the next big selling point to make consumers spend more money after 3D tv really took off... this is a joke, it didnt really take off.... and to replace the 720s or the 1080p TV in your living room. The only reason I would get a curved display is for online gaming for Call of duty or if I cared about playing Madden 25 as much as i used to, other than that I am sticking with the old reliable flat screen plasma on my wall....

So curved displayed phones right now is a new direction and a nice feature but this isnt going to be a major selling point until the display is flexible, can offer more shatter resistance, or has additional functionality integrated into the curve display. And ike they say, " A journey of a thousand steps begins with one", and the Samsung Curve and the LG Flex is the first step, and you know journeys dont get interesting until you hit at least half way!

Why Google Glass is Fragile....

As one of the initial Glass Explorers that received their Glass early in the year (the second batch). I have just experienced something that worries me about the Glass investment. With the cost to be in the Explorer program was significant enough to have myself concerned about the longevity of Glass.

As a everyday user with everyday wear and tear, somewhat of a power user but nothing extreme, I have experienced my first issue with Glass.

The connection piece between the bone speaker and the arm (where the piece goes from skinny to wide) started to crack, very unnoticable everyday, until last week.

As a student of Materials, as an Civil Engineering student (well I graduate a while ago) there was a section regarding shear failure. As the metal piece continues after the touchpad and before the speaker, the weight of the speaker started to crack the top portion of the plastic which tells me that the flexing of the material is putting stress on the metal arm and causing a failure of the piece and cracking the plastic.

Looking at this, I don't know how this could be prevented, my educated guess is a thicker section. While I am conscious about how I am using Glass on a daily basis, charging the unit and putting it on the top of my hear when I talk to people is my normal use. I am surprised that not more people are running into this issue.

With Google giving people a device refresh, this saved me from a failing unit however this doesn't solve the bigger problem. Eventhough Glass is amazing and the technology in it is evolving by the month this is an issue that will urk me and a lot of users and future users.

Our phones, whether Apple or Andriod last quite a long time seeing we use the device almost every 10 minutes of the day. If the materials on Glass starts to fail after 8 months, I can't see me buying a new pair of Glass every 10 to 12 months. I guess this is why were an explorer in the first place, not only explore the uses of Glass and how it fits into society, but exploring how it will explore the strength of the materials.

I hope you find this article useful!!

Why You Should Switch to the new Glass!

While this comes for news to some but not all in the Glass Explorer Community, google set out an email notifying Glass Explorers to switch and upgrade to the new Glass. So the question is should you switch or shouldn't you switch?

The recent invite went out to the initial explorers, although I don't know if the newer explorers received the newer version of Glass, to switch and upgrade their Glass. Now with this invitation, users are given the opportunity to also switch colors. I myself would love to be TEAM TANGERINE, but I just don't gave the guts to do it, though blue and white look very nice.

One thing I applaud Apple with, is the fact that the versions of their tablet and phone are kinda of future proof and that the device will be useful throughout the contract life (for phones and if you read my recent post regarding the iPad2 - that tablet is still selling new and relevant). Andriod is becoming that new through the nexus refresh giving the Nexus line up the new Kit Kat OS. However this is not applicable to all phones on Androids as Samsung is having you purchase a new Galaxy every year, shish!

As the initial explorers recieved Glass, the future was limitless with this device as it didnt really have a place and was trying to find its function of how it was going to be useful and competitive in this new mobile world filled with next gen tablets and huge smartphones. But it now only create a nitch for itself, it created a new technology category in  wearable tech.

Now with the new hardware the users will have an upgraded device for future updates and also probably hardware fixes to the bone Speaker and the fact that the phone experience is not that great. The invite will

The iPad2 is still a beast

Hello, sorry I havent posted in a while, I have been consumed with holiday shopping and a slightly dislocated finger which has pretty much put the stops to a lot of my blogging and social media updates. Anyways... with Apples release of the iPad Air, the consumers are needing more and more performance out of their tablets.. but I say why?

As I took my iMac to the Apple Store, I upgraded my computer before i posted not to upgrade to OSX Mavericks, and I noted that even the Apple Genuis Bar Employees process and perform their diagnostics on the iPad2 and not the latest and greatest iPad Air. This got me thinking, if these new iPads are sooo much better than the previous models, why isn't Apple using their own flagship product and using a device that is older and slower, the iPad2? I will tell you what the worker told me... The iPad2 is a beast

Now I am all for the new retina screen, the mini size ipad, (which I prefer) however how can Apple stay on the iPad 2 and pushing everyone to the newer models to everyone else? Probably because we (well most of us) have to have the latest and greatest all the time! Now I know that they arent runing programs that could take up all the performance processing that some users would but the principal should be the same.. If this is what they are selling, and they are telling you to trade up for the new versions, and the new hardware is far superior to the old hardware... the why arent they using it?? just something to think about...

The specifications of the iPad2 is adequate for 99% of the users out their who use tablets. In my opinion the iPad2 is still better than most tablets on the markets, while Samsung will give the iPad2 a run for its money, is it still better the the iPad2???? tough call. I guess the point here is that the iPad2 is still a superior tablet on the market as stores still sell them new, also the newer iPads are better however now its how much better are you willing to pay for? My suggestions is to show restraint and ride this iPad to the end.. however I know that is the opposite of what they are thinking? Only if we could freashen up the tablet a bit...and that is why Google is right where it needs to be...
After telling this to an employee at the AT&T store, she stated that they still use iPad 2 to run their operations, my response is "Well you are AT&T, not Apple. I dont see you talking an a flip phone do I?

My Experience with the newest update to Glass...

With the newest update of XE11 for Glass the improvements were very slight and with a lot of explorers, I haven't really dug
into the new glass store since the initial release of some addition apps. The apps store houses apps that assist you in cooking, update you in sports scores and even tell you interesting things and places around you. However the most interesting thing your going to find are some really simple apps such as stopwatch, timer and compass.

Why??? Those are very basic and how is this going to help me more than the others?

Very simple answer, be optimistic and excited not because of what it is, but where it is leading you towards. These simple apps are making Glass a utility, and not a phone replacement. The fact that timer, stopwatch and compass can be summoned on demand but also the fact that Glass is slowly shaping into a utility device like Batman's utility belt for geeks and something we can actually use in a daily basis. The fact that you don't have to stop what you are doing and redirect your attention to start the application keeps you on your train of thought and focused. Giving you an instant reminder of time and pace is important in meeting deadlines. And not to mention how this can integrate into glass apps. and for professionals using Glass, time management is key.

Google also have you the ability to see your calendar and your upcoming events with a Google search command. Keeping your agenda in you eyes helps with planning and keeping dates assuming you are half organized and actually have a schedule. Those who are busy enough, this is a great improvement. Glass is becoming what Apple promised us what Siri would be. Now one of the biggest  challenges next is how the nexus watch is going to play into this. The smart watch need not to replace the phone but work together with Glass and Android and it is important that the watch finds it's place and compliment the others. We will call it the Google Geek hat trick!

Galaxy Gear... 100% better with a MOD!

OK... This is a love/hate relationship with this product. I know I blasted this watch in the past, then gave it a little credit and now I'm back to writing about this watch again. Changing your mind is not something to be ashamed about, it shows you have been thinking, that you are open minded, considerate and you evolve with the new information... Like I have. Sometimes I think every new product is going to be like glass, innovative, constantly evolving and almost market ready when our gets released and shown in various debuts.

The Galaxy Gear watch, in my opinion should have followed suit with Glass. Give it to explorers and testers to see it's limitations and what the people think about it that use it in the real world. Once you debut a product there is little you can do to undo that. Now with the release of the Galaxy Note 3 Samsung has exclusively paired it with the newest revision the their flagship phone which was released at about the same time.

I understand rolling it out in phases is smart, giving the people a reason to upgrade to the newest Note when the Note 2 wasn't at all obsolete. But with the advertising campaign, Samsung realized the watch wasn't something people would covet, but there were major flaws when people where looking more and more into it... like myself.

Samsung then rolled out an update the give the Note 2 owners and the S4 owners capabilities to function the watch with their existing phone, opening up the market the millions of more users, however the functionality of the watch and that people would rather use the stock Android apps over the Samsung apps (Google Now vs. S Voice) and that forcing people to use the app didn't work either.

So now we are here.... and their is new development... XDA has came out with a modification to side load the android OS, Nova Launcher into the Smartwatch. This has then turned an extremely limited watch and was not desirable to now a game changer. With the sideload of the keyboard and the installation of the Google Play Store the Galaxy Gear Watch can now load you favorite Apps on your wrist and also control them just like a tiny cell phone.

So now with this feature, the Galaxy Gear smartwatch has now opened countless doors to the functionality of the watch. If you could put Google Now on the watch with all the other Google Apps paired with some of the Samsung capabilities. This is getting the best of both worlds and now also getting an unofficial preview of what the Google version of the smartwatch could be.

Here is the link to the installation video from youtube.

Galaxy Note 3 vs the Nexus 5... Why I still give the Note 3 the Edge

My friend was in the AT&T store this weekend and he asked me this plain and simple question... which phone should I get? I replied and ask him "what did the salesmen tell you"... he said "for the best Google experience go with the Nexus 5". I told my friend "he is just doing what you want him to tell you, this is not a recommendation". So if you are Glass Explorer, like we are, and if you have a contract upgrade coming up soon, like we have, then this is probably the blog for you.

I am not going to tell you what the specs are for these phones as cnet and any other blog writer will post that, this blog is informational and is intended to help you make decisions, and avoid this AT&T sales guy who will sell you any phone you are interested in.

The reason I would go with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is that if you want the extra real estate, this is a one up for Samsung. the versatility of the S Pen, though it's not used as much as you would want it to be and I loose it more than I use it, its still nice to have. The added functionally of the S Pen Features is quite nice and also the fact that the Note 3 is powerful enough to run multiple app side by side at the same time (and if you root the phone and install Windows Manager from the Play Store you can run any 2 apps side by side).

The other reason why the Galaxy Note 3 gets the nod over the Nexus 5 is the fact that the Galaxy Gear is only compatible with the Note 3 (and soon the Note 2 and Galaxy S4). The Galaxy Gear (thou is an intro product and I don't recommend to buy it, however is the best smart watch on the market). I would give the Nexus watch the recommendation over the Galaxy Gear, but since I am writing this Blog post today, currently Google has not released it, but plans on it coming soon.

Kit Kat update 4.3 is one of the major upgrades that I would give over the Galaxy Note 3... However with the ability to side load the Kit Kat operating system to gain most of the functionality, but the hardware of the always on mic is really cool, this is the Galaxy Note3 most of everything with a very large upside and the Nexus 5 only 1 clear advantage.

However if the phone companies offer the Nexus at a contract rate that is discounted.... well then its back to the drawing board!!!

Google is showing the phone companies how to really do phone upgrades

With the release of the Moto X, Google has reinvented the smartphone. Not only making the handset in the U.S. but also having a better understanding on what consumers want. With the Moto X, Google marketed the device as a flagship phone but it lacked the flagship hardware such as Samsung's amoled screen or Apple's retina screen. The Moto X delivers on experience and simplicity over hardware and specifications of the current market. With a 720 resolution screen and a below par camera (compared to the Galaxy) the Moto X certainly lacks the sexyness of the Galaxy and iPhone appeal. However the features, make up, and battery life make up for those deficiencies and has added the "okay Google now" feature (which is a game changer in my opinion).

Now Google has released the much anticipated Nexus 5 available to consumers for an unlocked model at around $350 which is unherd of for a flagship phone running the newest Android OS Kitkat which will be rolling out to Google devices very soon. The Nexus 5 is a comparable flagship device to Samsung and Apple with the flexibility of carriers that usually come with the older S models to go on various networks.

Now Verizon has released the Moto G which is now even more aggressively priced than the Nexus with some of the same principals as the MotoX with the price point similar to the Nexus 5.

What does this mean for you. Probably very little now but if Google keeps this trend, this may change the game for good in the future (and the future is always speculation). With premium phones becoming cheaper without a contract this is something, in my opinion Apple was trying to accomplish with the 5C. The iPhone 5C compares to Androids Moto G because of the plastic frame and the strip down qualities and it doesn't have Siri (but who really uses Siri), and also the Moto G gives the same experience in functionality which a downgraded camera takes just as good of pictures of food as a 12 megapixel does.

So what I feel is going to mold the future of the smartphones is the success of Nexus 5, the Moto X and Moto G. If Google sees that people are now considering functionality over the hardware, this can change the development from smaller faster lighter hardware, to more functional and userfriendly OS development that is more intuitive. The movement of unlock phones means that consumers will not renew contracts to receive a premium phone and consider going the cheaper way of the pay as you go plans or something that is more suitable for their usage. iPhones and Galaxy's are still going to be the major phones on TV commercials, however T-Mobile forced carriers to change the upgrade policy (which i think is a rip off) and now this is Google showing everyone how its done!!!

Glass Redemption - getting your invite

Google had change the game on Beta Testing by debuting the most innovative device we have seen in a long while, if you follow my blogs I usually refer and compare to the original iPhone, by having Glass Explorers group to extensively test and mold this product for public release. Applicants had to fill out an applications and all applications were reviewed by Google and Glass invites were sent out to residence of the U.S. and the developers and first group of explorers received Glass.

The explorers wore the headsets and as controversies of camera, privacy and other initial obstacles of testing a ground breaking product. Months came and went and another opportunity to expand the community was available via Explore Invite a friend email; however $1,600 a pop not a lot of people have that. however spots filled up and the explorer community expanded. And now it has come to recent time where Google has released another invite to the Explores. Any Explorer has 3 invites to have the Glass community expand to what it is today.

So today Google announced that the Glass Explorer program is open for individuals to sign up... So for everyone who has passed on the opportunity now has redemption. If you didnt know about the program but heard through the news or has seen the product on one of Glass touring program to show the technology here is your chance. Just don't make the same mistake a lot of other people did and say dumb things/reasons to get Glass, Glass is a revolutionary product and for Glass to be successful it needs dreamers driven by Coffee, Redbull and Mountain Dew (or maybe all of them at once) to mold Glass into what it will be tomorrow.

In my person opinion, Glass isn't at a place where it will live up to the consumers expectations of the product. However Glass has come far along from what the XE4 was, but people arent going to impressed by progress, but by the final product. I don't know if this is by design, but Google's effort to keep Glass exclusive and not open to the public make consumers like my self that collect exclusive items, keeps the interest and value of Glass high and very desirable because of the factor of very limited supply and exclusivity that you are chosen. So if you are considering applying for Glass, be authentic, be a dreamer!!!!

Here are my problems with Glass i would love to see fixed!!
 - Date displayed on the Home Screen
 - Drive Implemented to share and save files
 - Clean up the history, as the timeline feed is cluttered
 - Implementation of Keep
 - Implementation of Goggles.. This would be insane!!!!!

iPhone Killers - Can Andriod Overthrow Apple?

In todays age the iPhone has reign king of the cell phones for a long time, since its release many Samsung phones and ones alike have deemed the name iPhone Killer but none have lived up to the expectations... until now. With the first to be on the scene the iPhone has had the largest app store available and still now has the most available apps to download into the iOS device. This has now became irrelevant in my opinion because as counting apps that are soo old that no one is going to download anyways, most people only use a handful of apps on their smartphone anyway. The most popular app currently is Google Maps and probably followed by Facebook and Twitter (and Google+), so the fact Apple still claims the largest app store in my opinion is irrelevant again because who cares about the older apps as they just sit in peoples various folders in the back of their Homescreen. With the developers making apps for both platforms I would now say that the platform for the app store is now level, and I would give the edge to Andriod over iOS because the Google apps are cross platform and iOS is exclusively Apple. Some people may say thats a leg up for Apple, however those people probably don't understand it is still a Windows world and Pages and Numbers dont translate well into Word and Excel which still dominate the work place.

So the argument is how is Android overthrowing Apple as the title states, now with the App field leveling the playing field, it purely comes down to user experience, OS development, and Hardware. Now the iPad Air is far superior in weight, performance and has a retina screen which Apple has been living on for the past couple years. However.... with Androids larger screens, just as fast processing (for things like facebook and websites.. well comparable) and better Google App experience, Android is becoming a formidable opponent to the once ruler of the hand held devices.

Here are the reasons Andriod is superior to Apple:
Google Maps (Maps, Drive, Google+, Note, Hangouts, Earth etc.)
Cheaper price point.. mostly $100 cheaper
Split Screen (Samsung Devices)
Custom home screens and customization (Themer app)
Stylus (Note 8.0 and 10.1)
Expandable Memory
Removable Battery (some say this is a benefit)
Larger Screen
Google Integration of Apps (doesn't work the same on iOS works a lot better on Andriod)
Multiple users account (Nexus brand)
NFC technology (dont knock it till you try it)
Widgets
Lauchers
Better Control Center
Motion activation of apps
Google Now
OK Google now (Moto X and Nexus 5)
Galaxy Gear (just throwing it in, its a plus until an iWatch get release.... if ever)

With Samsung now becoming partners with the NBA and product placements you are now going to see more Android than iPhones. As I look in the Starbucks typing this Blog I already notice that half of the devices are Android where the market was once ruled by Apple. is this a concern for Apple... maybe or maybe not, however I think Android has made people at least consider Samsung.

Welcome Explorers to XE 11!!!

These past few weeks the Google Glass team has sent out invitations for their current explorer group to invite three lucky friends to the group (with money... ) . Google in a sense has tripled its current explorer group and has an even larger group of beta testers to see how this technology fits into society. With the release of XE11, refinements to the Glass experienced were added such as viewing events on the calendar for the upcoming events and can now navigate you "home" and to "work" as it now knows where home and work is. Glass users are sad that the long press Google search is gone do to the accidental activation of this command, however I still have tons of accidental pictures from leaving glass upside down when i take it off, they should have tried to fix that.

Screeencast and the set up for new explorers are now easier and with the swapping program, Glass will now work with people who have a prescription and also give you an earpiece to hear people on the phone during calls. The ear piece will solve the problem of cupping my hand and speaker over my ear to make it louder however they still need to address the microphone on Glass.

Now with this out of the way.....

What does this mean instead of having more people wear Glass? Does more Explorers mean a better product, or is this the way Google (slowly but surely) will implement glass in society? I think yes... yes it is... Wearing a computer on your face is a bit much and the early explorers had to answer a million questions from everyone that we walked by. Its probably equivalent to being a "hot chick" or the closest were gonna get to it. With the expansion of the group now Glass  will be more and more common and will be more and more accepted into society. Google and the Explorers have a responsibly to not screw Glass up for everyone, if Glass was released today in a retail store, i think it will do well, however the hype will die down and the device may go away due to not living up to the hype.

I would say keeping the device exclusive make it also more desirable because its not a product that everyone can get and to us nerds and geeks, we hold that sacred just like our Comics, Video Game, Collector Editions, and Magic Cards (somewhere in my house, i still wont sell them, or what other card game you play). I don't work for Google so i can dictate that however I do tell them feedback, so i know they listen...

AND CAN I PLEASE GET THE DATE IN THE OKAY GLASS SCREEN ALREADY!!!!!!!

Thanks!

iPhone and iPads better days are behind them? Introducing the iPad Air

With the release of the iPad air, reports have shown that the numbers of amounts of iPods and iPads have decreased from the same time last year. With the released of the original iPad, the market received a new product and there was a craz and people everywhere had to have it. With Steve Jobs heading the ship, every release was innovative and a must have. With the leaps and bounds of the iPad 1 to the 2, consumers rebought the revised product and with the 3rd iPad release we( and I do mean we) bought into it again. But as the time has gone by and now under different leadership the revisions have not been enough for me to reinvest into an iPad.

So here is some of my beef with this existing lines of technology that Im sure everyone has been going through..Cable Conumdrum... A lot of people have an iPad2 and an iPhone 5, an iPhone 4s and an iPad mini, any way you slice it I have 2 different cables and when I need to charge something, I always have the other cable. or 20 30pin cables in a drawer. This is especially frustrating to me, and Google doesnt have that problem because all their products including Glass uses a mini USB Cable.

Going back to topic here... If you are thinking about reinvesting into the Apple system I have 2 recommendations for you, go smaller with the iPad mini or reinvest into the iPad Air. The iPad Air is a thinner, lighter, and fast beast than the iPad 4 (or whatever number they are on). With a previous blog i mentioned that iOS will be sluggish on older phones and I was correct. With the apps and also iOS7 being processor intensive, in the future upgrades the iPad 2 is no longer going to cut it and you will be frustrated with the speed of the internet and the loading of your applications.

Apples innovations should not been seen in the same light of the company introducing new gadgets in the market place, it should be measured by how far it has come from the beginning. Refining their products over a period of time makes the first ipod and look very old and archaic. Innovative at the time by the introduction of a new product, however Apple has evolved itself under the new leadership of Mr. Cook, and now innovative has a whole different meaning.

Do not do not do not do not upgrade to OS Maverick!!!!

With the latest release of the newest operating system, Apple has decided to release the newest version MAVERICKS to all the Apple users everywhere. This update is compatible with most macs however if you own a current machine that was built are 2008, lucky you as you dont have to be subjected to the horror of this First Release.

I have learned from the upgrade to Lion that to never download and install the newest operating system the first week of release, my rule of thumb is about 6 to 8 months....Why you ask???? Simply if you need your computer to work or you depend on it to do more than just browsing social media (or if social media is your job than your in for a doozie!!) don't expect your Mac to be very cooperative or useful at all.

With the latest installation of MAVERICKS some of the most common problems are iWork (which is free for new owners of a Mac) and translating from the newer program from the paid versions that older owners have. Also with some of the Apple stock programs being revised, the translation of lost libraries from iMovie and iPhoto have irritated millions of users and this particular one to...Problems with the Mail Application and dont even get me started on the web browsing experience.. its probably the slowest and worst ever.. and here is the kick, you cant check the updates because loading the App store takes over 15 min on a computer with 6 GB RAM installed, this is very irritating. So even if there was an update I couldn't download it due to the impatience and anger that boils while watching the pinwheel.

So the solution is simple right???? why dont you just use a time machine back up??? well with the new installation of OS Mavericks the computer times out randomly leaving unfinished download and restore sessions incomplete so you get in this reoccuring frustrated cycle...

Other than that making my computer completely useless and have restrained myself from Fire selling my machine for a Starbucks Latte... I'm just going to wait it out...

I have no other choice than to wait, and OS Mavericks is giving me a lot of practice at waiting (and watching)

Galaxy Gear got a little less very average...

Recently I wrote a blog post regarding Galaxy Gear, not to correct myself or say i told me so, there is new development in the accessory gear which essentially had the world anticipating the next wearable tech revolution. The smartwatch is for the people who have grown tired of pulling out their phone 50+ times a day to check status, email,or just plain bored. Now if your bored you at least now have less thing to check thru before you start surfing dub step cat videos.

Samsung has reported that not only does the Galaxy Note 3 have compatibility with the Galaxy Gear but also the Note 2, S4 and S3 will get the updates very very soon. This is a smart move since those 3 phones are the 3 most previously popular smartphones and are still very relevant in the pre-paid market and for people who are jumping from the sinking Apple ship.. and i said ship not S***...

Some things i think are good about the watch is...its somewhat stylish, somewhat leather (not real), screen to view pictures and call people and receive call from. Also this computer is not strapped to your face,so people will feel a little better about using it. The Facebook, email, and Twitter notifications are helpful and also the calendar which I like the best.

What I don't like about the watch is camera they put into the device, very low resolution and the only use is to make you feel like a spy from the movies, Poor Batter LIFE (your dreaming if you can make it an entire day without a charge), the charging cradle, and soon you will be an Optimus Prime of cables since you now have to charge a laptop, cell phone, computer, tablet, smartwatch and glass, thats kinda too much.

My whole opinion is this, while the watch is very new and its one of the better looking screens on the market and by far more beautiful than pebble my real beef and the reason I wont buy one  and keep it is the fact that most of the functionality works and is integrated with the Samsung apps in the Touchwiz OS. Those apps are good however I, and millions of people, prefer the google apps which a limited in compatibility and functionality. You would assume so because the rumored Google Smartwatch to be announced soon. And that can be the game changer we have been waiting for!

PS... I left this tidbit out.... never never never buy the first generation of anything.. unless its revolutionary and its google glass....

What has Glass Done For You?

As of this week, Google sent out invitations to all of its Glass Explorers in the program. Exploring with Glass gives a selected group of people a chance to mold a product into what it will become. Google Glass is something that hasn't been seen before as it is a trail blazer in its own category of wearable computing. I could go on and on about what Glass does, however if you are reading a techster's blog, chances are you have seen the Youtube promotional video or you saw it on display as Google is promoting Glass around the U.S. in various locations for consumers to demo.

However, if I had to explain the experience of Glass it would be this...Testing Glass is probably equivalent to testing the iPhone before the iPhone was the iPhone. think about it, this technology has never be produced before and no other competitor has a product like this, and even if they do they are 10 iterations behind(being that we are running XE10) so when Glass hits the market it will have over a year of beta testers in this program.

I explained Glass to Google like this: Glass has given me the ability to capture raw emotion, after wearing glass the people you are around will get use to you wearing this on your face. With Glass becoming an accessory similar to sunglasses people will forget that you are wearing them as they just become part of your attire. When people film you with their camera phone, they notice and their actions are not raw and authentic because they know they are being filmed and captured, and in some part of their mind they has to look good in the photograph. However with Glass this is not the case, capturing the raw emotion of happiness or excitement and even sadness cannot be recreated, it is authentic.

Also the use of both hands and the point of view camera lets you revisit movies that you filmed just as you remembered. Glass will give you the opportunity to film more things in a more creative way. Some of my favorite movies of being a DJ, Dad and an Engineer have been taken with Glass. Now Google is expanding the explorers so more people can not only change their world... But help mold ours

Is Android your Mistress???? Is Android for you?

Please take time and vote(see the bottom of the page) only take a sec!https://www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/business/detail/3046

I know the title is kinda strange and funny, but this is very true with consumers today. We have all bought into the iOS system and own some parts of iVoltron that work together, an iPad, iPod, iphone, or a Mac-something. We enjoy the fact that everything works together and syncs across the devices and that everything is updated and current, as well as having a stylish phone.

Just like any relationship with anything... do you ever feel you want more from your device?

If the answer is no.... thats fine... however if your answer is something else.... well....

Deep down we all have some type of loyalty, (even i do even though it may not seem) to a brand, team or band of some sort, and somehow with these loyalties, we identify ourselves with them and they mold our identity. This is true about NFL fans and people who like a county music, and the people who don't. Who and what you like speaks volumes about who you are and the phone you have also helps mold your identity. I went to Apple and Mac when Apple was marketing that creative people use macs, people who think out of the box use mac, so in a sense i identified with that (like millions of people) and started using mac. Now lets get into the nitty gritty....

With the new updates to the iOS7 operating system and OSX Mavericks being released for free at the Mac App Store, Apple improved its system as well as introduced a new design to its users. However this is the same thing that Apple has always done, refine, refine, refine, refine.. and introduce little. In my opinion, Apple has a line of products that they are not trying to screw up, being conservative and keeping it the same as much as possible it what it wants to do, disappointing users to the competitor is not what it wants to do, but what it is happening.

Do you want a bigger screen?
Do you want a different OS?
Do you want to customize your experience?
Do you hate Siri?
Do you like Google now?
DO you often search with google?
Do you want your phone to do more?

If your answer to these questions are yes.... then i would recommend going Android.

Apple in being Innovative.... in marketing and advertising

I apologize for yesterdays error as the blog post on this topic was publish but for some reason did't post, and there was many many errors in posting this...

Apple has always affiliated themselves with modern design, simplicity and innovation. All the Apple products are beautiful, designed to perform ahead of their time and last. Having Apple products means that the technology was far better than Android and the only reason you will upgrade your phone is because you need the newest features... So now lets talk about the present, I know I am very critical with my reviews of the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S, I would expect the releases and announcement of Samsung a couple months prior would give Apple a strategic comeback. However, expecting new and Innovative products or at least the introduction of new products, they're sticking to their existing products. The constant refreshing and refining of the iPad and the Mac line, Apple has made innovations with battery life, computing, processing, and size of the products and improvements to existing features.

It seems to be that Apple is all about refining the existing line as to create or participate in the new products such as the smart watch. I have yet to see an original product or anything close to innovation except the fact that they are now offering software updates for free, this make sense since the fact that they roll out iOS for free and they themselves state that people don't use desktops and laptops anymore.

So is Apple simply throwing us a bone???? Yes OSX Maverick is free, but the bulk of what we do revolves around a cell phone. With Apple only refining and giving away the iLife software and iWork software also to new customers who buy the new line of products. Is this the way Apple is staying competitive with Google??? Free software??? Apple i think your scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I didnt see the value of the iPhone 5C.. until i walked passed the Apple Store. Since the phones are now colorful, so are the displays. In the past Apple has been built on Modern Colors of black and white with grey unibodys for computers. With the new line of phones, Apple not only sells a less impressive phone for cheaper, but also a plastic phone for the price of the previous flagship product made of metal and "Beautiful and Remarkable" as they described it in the Keynote Speech.

So watch the advertisements, and look around, Apple now has products that catch your eye for a different reason than being the most desirable product, the introduction of Space Grey and Champagne is Apples new marketing strategy to get more customers and existing customers to reinvest. Instead of eye tracking Cameras, Air Motion, Wearable Tech and an assistant to actually use (Siri), Apple gives you Champagne, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow and Space Grey...

Thanks a lot!!!

iOS7 - What a Drain.... on the battery!

With the new release of the iOS 7 operating system, Apple installed more Android-like features into the new iOS operating system. Apples new iOS has a lot of features that are based off of where your current location is. This is a great tool when exploring the world around you, but when you are out and about and go to the same Starbucks for the last 5 years, sometimes it just gets in the way.  As consumers habits the way it has become, we expect our phones to take a full work day like we do... and sometimes more.

Some wireless customers experienced a data jump on their billing cycle is this is most likely due to the upgrade of iOS7 into their new phones with all the settings turned on. Now going into settings and disabling these location settings is one way of getting a longer battery life. This feature would recommend apps whichever location you may be, this is constantly running the data on your phone to use the GPS and push you these recommendations, although a nice feature.. I would rather have longer battery life.

The new iOS has introduced automatic app updates, now this setting will automatically update all of your apps so you don't have to manually update all 1,000 apps that you hardly use on the phone. This is a good feature, however with using data and running an app update will not only eat your phones battery but it will effect the performance of the phone. Turning this off in the settings menu will solve this.

Multiapps running at the same time is now improved and enhanced for the new iOS. All the apps will run all the time in lieu of just freezing. With all the apps running in the background to give true multitasking, we dont need every facebook status update and tweet in real time.. so i recommend to close your apps, or just get off facebook altogether and jump to Google+.. =-p...

Being aware of these function will allow your phone to keep up with you because doing this is better than investing in mophie juicepacks to charge your phone on the go or constantly charging the phone which will kill the battery in under you phone-contract life. Hope these tips helped you out and thanks for reading!!!!!

Here is a video that will walk you through the steps....

WHY THE GALAXY GEAR IS SOO VERY AVERAGE...

After months and months of anticipation of the smart watch, Samsung debut Galaxy Gear during the Galaxy Note 3 Presentation. While stopping the keynote speech to receive the a demonstrated on this smart watch, American finally got what it was hoping for. With the development of Google Glass taking all the news this past year, the new innovation of wearable technology seems to be the new trend  now that smarthphones and tablets have been in the market for quite some time.

After using the Galaxy Gear, the life of the battery, how to charge it, and a lot of stuff people are not going to use, the excitement of the product fell flat. Not to mention that the watch only works with the Galaxy Note 3, and i havent herd any speculation that this will work with existing phones such as the Galaxy Note 2 and the very popular Galaxy S4. With the watch striking similarities to the ipod nano of old that apple once developed and abandoned, people (and myself) didnt fall in love with the smart watch, or like a lot of people... We will wait for Apples version of the iWatch.

With the recent hiring of the Yves St. Laurant executive, Apple once again is putting design and appearance first. With Samsung delivering the first punch and missed, Apple has the opportunity to steal the thunder that was missed and deliver an outstanding product that will be functional as well as beautiful. The iWatch is the next thing in the developments to try and lure former Apple users turned Andriod, back to Apple and the iEcosystem.

Even with Sansungs recent campaign of making the smart watch feel Bond-like, you would fell Bond-like with a 1 megapixel camera and also if the functionality isn't there. I know Samsung wanted to have the first strike and beat Apple to the punch, which Blogs and reports say that they will unveil during the  announcement of the new iPad line up. Now Apple is in a particular situation of counterpunching Google and Andriod instead of just blowing the competition away with a first round knock out, it now has an opportunity to reclaim innovation and show consumers that they still get it right the first time.

I mean seriously.... Its just a watch right??????

Apple - Acquires Fashion Designer from YSL to Improve the iDevice

News sources have stated that Apple acquires former CEO from Yves Saint Laurent Paul Deneve to work on improving the Apple lineup.

Why is this important? Well I don't know whether you should care if this is important, however, Apple fan should be excited!!

Apple has always prided itself on being fashionable and have a beautiful design of their products. Having a beautiful device that is slim and also powerful has always been a selling point of the Apple products. When you listen to the Keynotes events the words: slim, beautiful, light and all the words used to describe Angelina Jolie (or Brad Pitt..depending on who you are) are used to describe the Apple lineup.

Now with that revealed lets get down to this....

People are attracted to the Apple lineup because of this, because that Apple spends time on design of the products. Apples products are thin and trendy, light in weight and fast in processing. As compared to Android where consumers are consistently comparing the plastic outside covers on its various lines of phones.

With Apple making the models thinner and thinner, the devices are almost paper weight. After a while, refreshing the line with thinner and more compact designs aren't going to impress consumers to buy the same device... a little thinner. Samsung, one of Androids top manufactures and biggest rival, is now offering an alternative to the plastic back cover and giving the consumer a faux leather back for the Galaxy Note 3. With Apple stuck with little or no innovation left and resorting to attract customers with a cheaper line of phone that are plastic (like Android) and costs $99 or less (like Android) are going to invest in one of the reasons it became trendy to like.

Paul Deneve will provide insight to make the iPhone fashionable, with the phone and tablet a better accessory that a watch and necklace, Apple hopes to impress the new line up of devices in a way that Google and Android are lacking in. I believe Apple is now chasing Google for innovation, and in todays copy cat (or Kopy Kat) world, Apple will probably continue to take the best features of the various Android variants and install them into iOS-whatever and be on the cutting edge of fashion.

Because at the end of the day.... you still gotta look good. And you know what they say... You gotta look good to play (or whatever) good.

Breaking Bad - How to break out of the Apple Ecosystem

With the new version of iOS released and enough time has passed for people to give it a true assessment, the questions is this, Do I get the new iPhone or do i go to Android?

This is a simple questions that has does not have a simple answer, in fact this answer involves more than a simple "yes" or "no", it involves breaking out of what is comfortable and going into a new direction. In todays society our phones are more than a communication devices, it shows a lot about who you are and reflects your personality. When Apple was on top of the world, they were ahead, unique and innovative; these are the traits that we wanted to be associated with and that why, in my opinion, everyone wanted and owned an iPhone.

However that was yesterday and this is today, your contract is up for renewal and you ask your self a simple question "iPhone or Android?" this is a massive debate and there is no lear winner because everyone uses the phone different. So this simply isn't a math problem, this is more an philisophical question, "do you want more?" If the answer is no, then there really isn't a debate and this is the end of the article. But if the answer is yes.... Well then let go ahead and open Pandoras Box!

First Step: Come to the realization that everything doesn't have to match and be uniform. Go from a Monopoly (All Apple Devices) to "what have you done for me lately?" Understand the the majority of the applications and how you use the phone is available through the Play Store as well as the app store.

Second Step: Be the Smart Consumer! With a lot of the phones available for selection, everyone is a little different and one size doesn't necessary fit all. With the rise in popularity with Android, this is more of a question of how comfortable you are with the size and features now that one company doesn't control your device. If you want size - Galaxy Note, if you want an all-around good phone - Galaxy S4, if you want to be on the cutting edge and be different - Moto X, if you are price conscious and want the big screen - LG Optimus, if you want nice and cheap - Galaxy S3. All of these phones run Android OS but have different features to make them unique and fit you.

Third Step: Do not treat your Android like an iPhone! The reason you are even considering a switch and you are reading this is the fact that you want more, you want a customizable phone and you want something different. As log as you go into this with an open mind and you use an Android to be an Android and not an iPhone with a bigger screen, you will unlock a lot more. If you use it like an iPhone, then i recommend the Galaxy s4.

Being a smart consumer i feel is better for the economy, with Android having more activations than Apple in the recent quarter tells me that if Apple wants it share of the US Market back, then it has to push it self and be more innovative than what is right now. America loves cheesy romance movies like the Notebook and whatnot, we want to stay with the company we started with but just like in Hollywood and life, once you let someone in the middle it is hard getting them back!!!!! Well Apple.. it looks like you have your work cut out for you and you have a couple years to make us reconsider! Thanks for reading!

Congrats Apple!!!! You are now the maker of the FREE Phone!!!

This is truly a BIG EVENT!!!! Not that this is news, however this is more of a realization than news. Maybe I have the perception of Apple wrong the whole time. I mean...I'm am not an employee, I dont know a lick of marketing, I am just an enthusiast when it comes to technology.

I was visiting my parents last week for breakfast, before going my uncle told me to input my information in his cellphone for some marketing projects. the first thing that he said was "I only have the cheap free phone". I am not saying that whoever owns that phone, that this is a reflection of them. However I think this is a reflection of the company that makes it.

I happily typed in my information into an iPhone 4 and passed it along. I think that is one GREAT phone, just in general, and now everyone can experience this, even the people in the free market! My first thought is... This is awesome! My second thought was.... when did Apple ever give out its hardware for free? or this cheap? I know people are going to say "Its not free, you still pay taxes!!" and "you still need a data plan and that costs money!" Those people are missing the point. Its not about the phone being free, its about the company who is providing the free phone.

There are three types of people: the people who was with Apple before the rise, the people who hopped on the wagon, and the people who are late to the party and are now on board. Apple, you have always been innovative and your followers always paid top dollar for an apple products, the perfect example is the iPod, because I can go all day on the Macbook Pros and the iMacs. if people wanted an mp3 player they could shell out 30 bucks and get a sony "whatever" at Best Buy, but people wanted an ipod and paid 10 times that amount to own it. People have always viewed Apple as not only a great product, but even a better value and we are willing to shell out cash to have it!
In my view, owning or being apart of the Mac world stated something about you, and their marketing team reinforced that earlier when developing the line of mac product. If you have a Mac then you were different and special than the "Windows" people, you stod out and their products stood out. And now it is sorry to say Apple... Now you are fallen into the same category of "free phone", and what is so special about that????

iOS 7 - Tips and Tricks - Air Drop

Hello... well i have to say I am impressed with the latest build of iOS 7. My readers are often thinking that I am an Andriod kinda guy.. But I still have a little love for Apple still. until they totally screw up the Macbook Pro.

One feature i do want to talk about is theAir Drop feature in the iOS 7. Air drop was originally part of the Mac OS Lion feature which was introduced by apple so you would no longer need a USB to transfer documents. the feature only worked with other computers also running OSX Lion also. The way it works is if the computer is connected to the same wifi network then the users computer will show up under the finder tab in the application toolbar.

With the new iOS7 this feature is used to share pictures and other sorts of content, but mainly pictures. With the newer apple products, iPhone 5 and later and iPad3 and later (sorry iPad2 and iPhone4S users) this feature is available.

So why do i even care about this feature???? Especially when I can email it or text it to my friend?

Well... Air Drop will actually place the photo into your Photos application, which is very convenient. instead of getting the picture scrolling through messages and using a screen shot to have it in your library.

INSTRUCTION
1. go to photo application
2. selecte picture
3. tap the little paper icon with an up arrow (upload button)
4. make sure the recipient has the air drop feature on..either contacts if you both are in each others contacts or open to be view by all iOS users.
5. Select user
6. User see the preview of the photo and chooses to accept or decline the photo.

Jay-Z and Apple... Cut from the similar cloth

Thanks for Reading and opening up this blog page! I have incorporated some of the comments left by you guys.. so i will tighten up some of the screws and be more focused!!!!

So as the title reads.. I am a huge music fan and also a DJ. I recently got into  debate with my brother about the relevancy of hip hop and as we all are, debating, speculating and commenting on Apple and the new iPhone..

Some will not agree and tell me Im crazy, outrageous, and every other word in the book.... But lets hold on here. Don't be a blind fan, be a smart fan....

My views on the hip hop artist is that he is over the hill and his material is not very relevant and great, as compared to his previous releases. I have not only heard the same material from him, what was released currently isnt even worth me downloading it free LEAGALLY from the google play store. Dont get me wrong, he is brilliant to offer it free and I love the gadgets and commercials but lets be real.... rank this album againt his career work and give me the truth... i dont even know 1 song off that album other than the one on the radio and compared to his work, i give it his 5th best album because i didnt even bother to listen to it and also the other ones were soo bad i cant see him doing worse than Kingdom Come and American Gangster... Again just my opinion..

Now lets get to Apple.... With the new iPhone to be released on Friday and the keynote speeches in the books I believe Apple is in a similar situation. Little brother Android is stepping up and taking the light that was once dominated by Apple and making it their own. This is my opinion however, Apple hasnt really got a new design since the last Steve Jobs Phone, the iPhone 4S, and this is its new layout, skin and identity. This is the first time I can say this is not a Steve Jobs phone but a new phone which will display the new direction of Apple. With the expectations and excitement we will see if the future of the iPhone will be revolutionary like history has shown or will the iPhone follow the path of the current hip hop artist and be excited for the release, but generally quickly become irrelavant similar to the iPhone 5. However the 5S is a whole different story..

Thanks Guys!!!!

The new iPhone 5C - Why cheaper is not better for you!!

As a blogger mainly on Ggoogle+ I know I am going to get a lot of flack on blogging about the iPhone 5S and iPhone5C. But there are some people who are still stuck in the Apple ecosystem and enjoy that functionality and will not experience the freedom and the winds of change.

However,

All eyes were on Samsung to revolutionize the world with their new unboxing of the Galaxy Note3 and Galaxy Gear, with people expecting more from this all eyes then turned to Apple 2 weeks later with their keynote presentation of the brand new iPhone 5S and 5C. With this iPhone event everyone wanted to know how Apple was going to not only catch up to the operating system of Andriod, but to revolutionize the industry as they claimed they were working on something BIG!

Income the iPhone5S and iPhone5C....

I can elaborate on both phones, but this blog is specifically for the iPhone5C...

As a consumer we perceive value in product if we can get it cheaper, and not better, and has the same functionality; this is an incorrect perception. As a customer of Apple with nothing but innovation and incredible products that are beautiful and well designed, we expect nothing but greatness for the company who dominance once ruled the world. The consumers of Apple expect innovation and ground breaking products and experience from new products because the history shows this and even after Apple is, to say the least stagnant, we expect every revision to be amazing(and to catch up to Andriod)! Everyone see the iPhone 5C as a good buy because of the larger screen than the 4S model but also the price point of the phone being $99. Consumers are drooling over the cheaper price tag and seeing that the new line of 5C are not only colorful, but can save $100 or upgrade the memory and get larger storage for the same money of the 5C. In this case, we perceive, the same product but more bang for your buck...... This is the WRONG WAY OF THINKING!!!

The reason Apple is where it is at and also everyone loves the experience of the iPhone is because of the hardware of the phones are amazing and companies are not only designing incredible apps for it, they are designing apps to maximize the limits of the graphics processors and pushing it to the limit. Buying the 5C in my opinion is equivalent to buying a iPhone 5 (Old Technology) which was released by Apple a year ago. Why do I care about that? Because of the fact that readers are not addicted to tech like bloggers and reviewers are, they don't get all the gadgets that come out and they probably only get a phone every 2 years. Think of where Apples apps will be in 2 years and if you had an iPhone 3GS, you would be crying and wishing for a better phone.

Sidebar - After watching the Keynote, Apple's iPhone 5S is the first 64-bit phone on the market, why should you care? because with the amount of processing that the new iOS 7 is using every time you open the lock screen or swipe screens or use the new swipe screen, your phone will lag, and we hate boot up time because Apple has showed us we never need to turn off and on our computers and the ipad wakes up instantly. I'm not Cleo the psychic, I'm just a blogger addicted.

Resuming....

Because Apple has always given you the best phones that are capable of performing for the innovation of the future everyone experience is groovy, except of you own an original iPad and an iPhone 3GS.

Be a smart consumer, if your favorite Flemmings steak went up in price, would you get the cheaper one? Would you go to Outback Steakhouse? You would, but you would say its good, but its not Flemmings (or your favorite food, this is just an example). This isn't a trap from Apple, this is simply Apples answer to Google selling Andriod GS3 and GS4 for incredibly lower prices and flooding the market (low end market) and taking power away from Apple. Not to downgrade Andriod, however Apple has had the best experience tech wise than any other company, blowing away Hp's and dells (I would capitalize the "d" in dell, however I don't care enough about the company to fix that grammar. I would rather ramble about this than to actually do it. I am making a point!!!!!) and killing Windows! I don't know of anyone drooling over the Window Surface tablet however the only reason why people have those and blackberry products is because they are company provided, deep down they want an Apple product (or premium Andriod too!!!). Nonetheless, Consumer.. Buy the iPhone5S and not the iPhone5C, it is a better product better experience and also after driving a Lexus and Mercedes, do you really like drive that new Toyota Corolla???

Thanks for reading!!!!
